AVIATION CAMP

Mon-Wed, July 20-22

8:00 am to 4:00 pm

$600

Co-ed, Grades 9-11

This three-day camp offers students in grades 9 through 11 an immersive introduction to the world of aviation. Throughout the program, participants will explore modern aviation systems, learn about a wide range of career pathways, test flight-related concepts, tour an aviation museum, and take part in flight simulator training. These experiences, along with many other hands-on activities, are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and provide students with an authentic look at the aviation field.

The camp follows a physics-first, experience-driven model that places active learning at the center of each day. Activities at Linden Hall begin with a brief physics lesson, followed by extended time applying those ideas through engaging, physical challenges and experiments. Students are encouraged to build, test, analyze, and refine their work, culminating in reflective debrief sessions that connect their results back to key scientific concepts. This structure allows students to experiment boldly, think critically, and develop a deeper understanding of how physics shapes the real world.

A fictionalized crash investigation of Flight 1746, a Piper Seneca that departed Lancaster and never arrived, runs across all three days. Students act as the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) go-team, receiving new evidence each day and applying the physics they learned that day to narrow the probable cause. The arc ends with each student presenting a formal NTSB-style probable cause statement.
