Lecture with Dominish: Pennsylvania Women on the Home Front During World War 2

Join the Lititz Historical Foundation at the Lititz Public Library for our April 2026 historical program! We’ll be welcoming Dominish Marie Miller, who will discuss “Pennsylvania’s Women on the Home Front: Their Contributions and Impact.”

When we talk about World War II, we often think about the battles overseas, but the home front was just as vital—and across the Commonwealth, Pennsylvania women were the engine driving the “Arsenal of Democracy.” The industrial might of the state, and the American war effort as a whole, would not have been possible without their contributions. From the steel mills of Pittsburgh to the shipyards of Philadelphia and the factories of York and Lancaster, Pennsylvania women stepped up to fill the void left by millions of men serving overseas.

Miller is the Third Circuit Court of Appeals Librarian for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the founder of Preserving the History of Newberrytown, runs the Lewisberry Area History Lovers group and is a founding board member of the Newberrytown Special Events Committee. She serves as Librarian and VIS Chair for the Harrisburg Chapter, NSDAR. She is also a reenactor with the 87th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Company C where she portrays a Second Corporal. She is the author of two cookbooks and two local history books.

This program is free and open to the public. Signups begin at 9am on April 4th. After that day and time, call the library to register at 717-626-2255 or visit the link below. Seating is limited to 100 people. https://calendar.lancasterlibraries.org/event/lititz-historical-foundation-129308

Lititz Outdoor Fine Art Show

For over 50 years, the Lititz Outdoor Fine Art Show has been a hallmark of quality and creativity in Lancaster County. As we look toward the future, the Lititz Art Association is excited to announce some major updates for the 2026 showcase!

To provide the best possible experience for artists and visitors alike, they are moving this beloved event to a brand-new season and a fresh location.

What’s New for 2026?

  • A Shift to Autumn: We are moving from the heat of late July to the crisp, inspiring air of Fall.

  • A New Setting: While we’ve loved our time in the park, this year’s show will move to a new location to better accommodate our growing community of art lovers.

Moravian Church Square - 8 Church Square, Lititz

Date: Saturday, October 3rd Time: 9AM - 5PM

The Finest Art in the Region

Despite the change in scenery and season, the commitment to "Fine Art" remains unchanged. This show continues its legacy as one of the few strictly fine art exhibitions in the area, featuring original works and high-quality reproductions from over 130 local and out-of-state artists.

Explore a Gallery Without Walls

Stroll through the booths of incredibly talented creators and find the perfect addition to your collection. The show features a diverse range of mediums, including:

  • Paints: Vibrant Oils, Acrylics, and delicate Watercolors.

  • Dimension: Professional Ceramics and Sculptures.

  • Detail: Intricate Drawings and Mixed Media.

The volunteers of the Lititz Art Association are proud to continue this 50-year tradition in its new home. We invite you to join us this Fall to experience why this show remains one of the town’s most recognizable and prestigious "brand names."

Smith and Wolfe will trace the early history of local distilling and also discuss the impact it has had on the economy and communities within Central Pennsylvania and beyond.

The library is located at 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz. Reservations open at 9am on Saturday, February 7th. Beginning on that date and time, call the library to reserve your seat at 717-626-2255 or click the button below to register for this free program. Seating is limited.

Linden Hall Winter Open House

Linden Hall invites prospective applicants and accepted students to visit campus for a "day-in-the-life" experience where they can shadow classes for a day and eat lunch in our dining hall. The school day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:30 pm. Girls in grades 4-11 are invited to participate; grade 12 students may participate if they are interested in our post-graduate certificate program.

Visit LHGirls.org/winteropenhouse26 to register now!

Once visiting students are matched with their student hosts in the morning, parents will be invited to participate in a Q&A panel with Linden Hall staff followed by a guided campus tour. Afterward, parents are welcome to enjoy time in town, including attending the Lititz Fire & Ice Festival. Parents should plan to return to campus for student pickup at 3:30 pm.

PLEASE NOTE: February 16 is during the annual Lititz Fire & Ice Festival. Traditionally we allow our current students to walk out the front doors to enjoy the food trucks on this date, as well as to view the incredible ice sculptures. If you would like your child to participate in this much-anticipated tradition, we have teacher chaperones available to walk with groups of students. Your child should plan to bring cash to purchase lunch. If you do not want your child to participate, lunch will still be served in our on-campus dining hall at no cost to you. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.

If your student would prefer to shadow classes on a day that is not listed, please email your request to admissions@lindenhall.org. Please try to make your request 7-10 days ahead of time so that the admissions team has ample time to plan your visit.

Lititz Historical Foundation Presentation: "Christiana Resistance"

Join us at the Lititz Public Library on Saturday, January 17th 2026 at 1:30pm for a very special program.

Our guest speaker will be Darlene Colon, who will discuss the Christiana Resistance.

Did you know that many historians cite this event to be the first battle of the Civil War? The Christiana Resistance (also known as The Christiana Riot) was the successful armed resistance by escaped slaves and free blacks to a raid led by a federal marshal to recover four escaped slaves on September 11, 1851 at the home of William Parker in Christiana, Pennsylvania.

2026 marks the 175th anniversary of this event.

Colon is a Lancaster County historian, author, serves as President of the Christiana Area Historical Society, and is an authority on the life of Lydia Hamilton Smith.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Registration begins on Saturday, January 3rd at 9am, beginning on that date and time, please call the Lititz Library at 717-626-2255 to reserve your seat, or click the button below.
