Olio Celebrates 10 Years

A stop at Olio Olive Oils & Balsamics feels like a visit to see old friends. There’s always a warm greeting, and usually a good joke.

While it has all the charms of a small family-owned business, Olio is also one of the largest oil and vinegar stores in the nation, featuring over 3,000 square feet of retail space and over 125 flavors and varieties to choose from (and free tastings are always available at Olio!). Other product offerings include sea salts, imported pastas, sugars, and a huge selection of honey.

Co-Owner Joe Desimone is always quick with a joke (follow him on social media for his daily puns and prepare for lots of eyerolls!) and he’s just as quick to offer his enthusiastic support for the other small business owners in town. “We look out for each other in Lititz,” says Joe. “There’s a real sense of community.”

That sense of community was put to the test when Olio suffered a fire 2019. While it was a devastating time, the silver lining was seeing the way the community showed up to offer support. “From fellow merchants to residents, we heard from so many people who wanted to help,” says Joe.

“The mayor even offered the use of his truck and personally helped us move furniture,” adds Pete.

Just as Olio recovered from the fire, they were hit with another hurdle – COVID-19. Teamwork and creativity pulled them through. Their 10 years in business has certainly had its challenges, but on this sun-shiny day in downtown Lititz, the outlook is good.

“We love the mix of locals and tourists that we welcome here. Lititz is a great place to be.” says Joe.
