A Timely Business…

Our trips to Lititz Watch & Jewelry always start with a warm greeting from store manager, Oanh. The shop is an adventure in utility and whimsy – with watches and clocks that range from practical to oh-so-cool. There’s also a growing collection of jewelry in a wide range of price points, making this shop a go-to for our gift-giving outings…as well as when we have a timepiece that needs to be repaired!

You can find Lititz Watch & Jewelry on North Broad Street, just north of Wilbur Chocolate on the corner of Broad and Lincoln Avenue. Recently, we talked to partner Ed Hemperly about how he got started and why he loves Lititz.

We learned that Lititz Watch & Jewelry has been serving downtown Lititz for 21 years. Ed became a managing partner in 2011. He loves that the shop is close to his home, and we can’t help but think that Lititz’s charm pairs perfectly with the shop’s fanciful timepieces and jewelry.

Ed’s interest in watch and clock repair began when, as a child, he entertained himself by repairing small equipment. During his military service, Ed repaired heavy technical equipment on tank turrets, missile launchers, and computer platforms, setting him up for a career where attention to detail is necessary. He has been trained to work on both clocks and watches, utilizing the latest techniques and tools.

When asked about his best seller, Ed didn’t hesitate, noting that customers love Allen Design Clocks. “They’re whimsical and bring a smile to everyone’s face.” He also didn’t hesitate when asked about his favorite spot in Lititz – it’s Bulls Head Public House! When he’s not in town, you can find Ed spending quality time with his wife, children, and granddaughter on his boat.
