Eggstra Special Needs Egg Hunt

Now I Can Foundation Northeast, a leader in the intensive model of pediatric physical therapy, announces their 1st Annual Special Needs Egg Hunt! All children with special needs ages 18 and under and their siblings are invited to attend the event, to be held on Wednesday, March 22, beginning at 5:30 pm on the grounds of Listrak headquarters at 100 West Millport Road, Lititz, PA.

According to Now I Can Northeast Executive Director Allison Ebersole, the organization recognized a need in the community and decided to fill it with this unique egg hunt. “Children with special needs are often limited in how they can participate in traditional egg hunts, which often have lots of kids, lots of noise, and can be very competitive and intimidating,” she says. “Some children cannot participate at all, due to their need for various accommodations. We’ve made every effort to make this event fun and inclusive and a first-of-its-kind for the area.” The hunt will be divided into four designated areas: one for those with mobility issues; an area for participants with visual impairment (using beeping eggs); a “quiet and calm” area; and a traditional large group scramble.

The event is free and open to the public, and ample parking is available. Participants should bring their own baskets. The egg hunt will be held outside, weather permitting or inside if the weather does not cooperate. There will be a special guest author, Sally McKinney, who will be reading stories aloud and sharing her new book, Yes You Can! Pre-registration is required.
